IF you mean (1/2)y=-6 then y = -12
just multiply both sides by 2
IF you meant 1/(2y)=-6, then y=-1/12
multiply both sides by 2y, then divide both sides by the coefficient of the y term
my guess is you meant the 1st situation though, with y=-12
