HI Armani
Get your graph paper out. Set up your X and Y axis with numbers
plot your first equation
y = 34x - 4
when y is 0 x = -4 plot that point on your graph..when x = 1, y = 30 plot that point.
Plot your second equation
y = -12x + 11
when y = 0, x = 11, plot that point on the graph. when x = 1, y = -1, plot that point.
draw your lines and see where they INTERCEPT. cross each other. that point if your answer
check your answer
y = 34x - 4
y = -12x + 11
solve by multiplying the the second equation by -1, then add the two equations together.
y = 34x + 4
-y = 12x - 11
0 = 46x - 7
7/46 = x
plug x into any equation
y = 12(7/46) - 11 or y = 34(7/46) + 4
y = -9.17
geez these numbers aren't too friendly. are we sure we wrote the problem down correctly?
