Hard Word Problem

PLEASE HELP ME OUT :)

Often portrayed in movies, Lombard Street in San Francisco is a windy and steep street up a

hill. In the 1920s, a road builder was tasked with a project to decrease the grade from 27% to

14% to meet the city’s requirements. If the height of the hill is 600 feet, what would the

difference in length be between the new road and old road? Determine the percent increase

as well in your answer.

Thank you so much, it really helped! I solved for the values of z and m and somehow the difference was only 1 foot, then when I solved for the percentage change I got 0.01 or something like that. I'm not sure if thats a realistic answer or what I did wrong, could you please explain the last part of the problem? Sorry to bother you and thanks a lot.

I made a mistake. Express the percentages, 14% and 27%, as decimals, 0.14 and 0.27. I apologize for taking so long to post this correction.
