Question

At the movie theater child admission is $5.10 and adult admission $9.70. On Saturday, 188 tickets were sold for a total sales of $1368.20. How many child tickets were sold that day?

c+a = 188

5.1c +9.7a = 1368.2

5.1c + 5.1a = 5.1(188)= 958.8

4.6a = 1368.2-958.8 = 409.4

a = 409.4/4.6 = 89 adults

c = 188-89 = 99 children
