You can find the speeds in miles per hour in more than way. One option would be to by divide each distance by the time specified to find the unit rate (or miles completed in 1 hour).
For Lin:
(Recall that 2 3/4 is equal to 11/4.)
11 ÷ 2 = 11 • 5 = 55 or 6 7 miles per hour

(Recall that 8 2/3 is equal to 26/3.)
26 ÷ 4 = 26 • 3 = 26 or 6 1 miles per hour
