Complicated Word Problem

Jean is studying the population of a group of penguins of a certain species. These are some of the

discoveries she has made. Equal number of male and female penguins form couples. Each couple

raises one chick. At the end of the year, 20% of all the penguins (adults and chicks) die because of

natural causes. The penguins can raise the chicks after they are one year old. Develop an equation to

solve how many penguins there will be after 7 years if the number of penguins that Jean observed

initially was 1000.

Please answer I have to write an essay on this but I cant find the answer!

No, we have to presume that only the adults die. Otherwise we need to know what percent of

adults and what percent of chicks die..

Do the chicks mate and reproduce after 1 year of maturity OR does it take them 1 year to

reproduce after maturity...

Do the 20% of the adult chicks reproduce BEFORE they die?

Cannot build the table until these questions are answered...
