Let's use y = mx+b first to find out the standard form next.
We can rewrite the x and y-intercepts as (6,0) and (0,-10) respectively. Since we already know the y-intercept is -10, b = -10. To find the slope, we can do (y2-y1)/(x2-x1). So m = (-10 - 0)/(0 - 6) = -10/-6 = 5/3. Thus our equation is y = 5/3x - 10.
The standard for is Ax + By = C. So let's take the x part and transfer it over to the left side by subtraction. We get y - 5/3x = -10. Now, fractions are messy and we can multiply by -3 to get a proportional equation:
-3(y - 5/3x = -10) ---> -3y + 5x = 30 -----> 5x - 3y = 30.
