2x + 4y =8

Given this we know we can find the x and y intercepts by plugging in zero for x and y.

x-intercept:

1. Plug in zero for y
2. 2x+4(0)=8
3. Simplify the equation
4. 2x=8
5. Divide by 2 on both sides
6. x=4
7. The x-intercept will be at (4,0)

y-intercept:

1. Plug in zero for x
2. 2(0)+4y=8
3. Simplify the equation
4. 4y=8
5. Divide by 4 on both sides
6. y=2
7. The y-intercept will be at (0,2)

Answer 2

Put zero in for y, then solve you get ( 4, 0 )

Put zero in for x, then solve you get ( 0 , 2 )

Plot the points,then connect.

Rewrite the equation is standard y-intercept format.

y = -0.5x + 2

The y intercept is the value of y when x=0. Thus, y=2: that is where the line crosses the y axis at x=0.

The x intercept is the value of x when y=0. 0=-0.5x+2 Thus, x = 4.

x intercept (4,0)
