Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
12x + 3 + 7x -5 =
19x - 2
the problem might arise graphically as the difference of 2 lines
y=12x+3 and y=-7x + 5
subtract the 2nd equation from the 1st to get
y-y = 0= 19x-2
19x=2
x = 2/19
the plug that into either line's equation to solve for y
y=12(2/19) +3 = 24/19+ 3 = 24/19 + 57/19 = 81/19
y=-7(2/19) + 5 = -14/19 + 95/19 = 81/19
(x,y) = (2/19, 81/19) is the solution of the 2 equations or the intersection point of the 2 lines
