Two mechanics worked on a car. The first mechanic worked for 10

 hours, and the second mechanic worked for 5

 hours. Together they charged a total of $1075

. What was the rate charged per hour by each mechanic if the sum of the two rates was $130

 per hour?

10F + 5S = 1075

5F + 5S = 650 multiply 1st equation by 5 and subtract from 2nd equation

5F =425

F = 425/5 = $85 per hour for the 1st mechanic

S = 130-85 = $45 per hour for the 2nd mechanic
