In simple terms, the amplitude is just the difference between the maximum and minimum divided by two.
That is to say:
Amplitude = (Max - Min) / 2
For function f,
- Max = 3
- Min = -3
- Amplitude = (3- -3)/2 = 6/2 = 3
For function g,
- Max = 1
- Min = -1
- Amplitude = (1- -1)/2 = 2/2 = 2
So, the amplitude of ƒ is three times greater than the amplitude of g.
