from y intercept to x intercept, the line goes up 1 as it goes to the right 4. the slope = 1/4
or you can calculate it from the two given points
(-8,-3) and (4,0) slope = change in y/change in x "rise over run"
= (0--3)/(4--8) = 3/12 = 1/4
