For a line to be parallel to another line, the slopes must be the same; so the slope of the parallel line will also be 3/4.
Once we know the slope of the line, we can use the point slope form of a line [ y-y1=m(x-x1) ] to figure out the equation of the parallel line. Substirtuting 3/4 for m, -4 for x1, and 9 for y1, we get y-9=(3/4)*(x+4) or putting it in slope intercept form y= (3/4)*x+12.
