Critical thinkers a.) Ask questions about what they read.
In essence, critical thinking = THINKING! One of the most important rewards of an education is learning to exercise critical thinking. If a person fails to develop the skills / habit of critical thinking, then their education has been a FAILURE.
By their nature, human beings are, essentially, LAZY - they generally want to do as little as possible to get through life. PROBLEM - Critical thinking requires effort, it is work. This explains why far too many people choose the two extremes of NAIVETE and CYNICISM.
NAIVETE = Believing something, accepting something at 'face value'.
CYNICISM = Rejecting something 'out of hand'.
What do NAIVETE and CYNICISM have in common? Neither involves any CRITICAL THINKING / THINKING. This is why so many - far too many - people either automatically believe something or automatically refuse to believe something - both NAIVETE and CYNICISM don't require any WORK!!!
