So we have:

2x + 6y = 22

We can plug in X into the equation that was given to us and solve from there:

2(5) + 6y = 22

10 + 6y = 22

And now we subtract 10 from the left side and the right side to try and isolate y by itself

6y = 12

This is where we divide each side by 6 to get rid of the 6 on the left side to get y by itself.

So we know that dividing 12 by 6 would equal 2 and we would get y isolated.

y = 2
