Three bags of wheat, two bags of corn, and one bag of oats weigh the same as one bag of wheat, one bag of corn and fie bags of oats. If two bags of corn and one bag of oats weights 26 pounds, and one bag of corn weighs 10 pounds, how much does one bag of wheat weigh?

1 bag of corn weighs 10 lbs

 

2 bags of corn and 1 bag of oats weigh 26 pounds

 

So 1 bag of oat weighs 26-2*10 = 6 lbs

 

Let the wheat bag weigh w lbs

 

Wt of 3 bags of wheat + 2 bags of corn + 1 bag of oat = 3w + 2*10 + 6 = 3w + 26

 

Wt of 1 bag of wheat + 1 bag of corn + 5 bag of oats = w + 10 + 5*6 = w + 40

 

We know these weights are equal

 

3w + 26 = w + 40

2w = 14

w = 7

 

Bag of wheat weighs 7 lbs
