How can you manipulate this equation?

 Isolate “c” in the quadratic formula. Does your answer make sense? If you rearrange the answer, where do you go back to?

+/- = positive and negative (not division)



x=-b +/- sqrt((b)²-4(a)(c))/2a

x = (-b ±√(b²-4ac))/(2a)

2ax = -b ±√(b²-4ac)

2ax +b = ±√(b²-4ac)

Square both sides

4a²x²+4axb + b² = b²-4ac

Cancel b² and swap left and right sides

-4ac = 4a²x²+4axb

Divide both side by -4a

c = -ax²-xb

Rearranging:

ax²+bx +c = 0 So it does make sense
