Patient with Ability to Explain in Many Ways
What you first need to do is get it into a general form of y = ax + b. So you need to get y on the left side by itself. Subtract 5x from both sides to get -4y = 2 - 5x. Next divide both sides by -4 to get y = (2 - 5x)/(-4) or y = (5/4)x - (1/2). Now to plot the line on a graph, pick a point for x then find out the value for y. I recommend starting with simple numbers like x = 0, x = 1, etc. If x = 0, then y = (5/4)(0) - (1/2), or y = -1/2. So the first point on the graph would be (0, -1/2). Plot a few more points then draw the line.
