What we know: rate = $10 per hour, price for 3 hours = $45
To calculate the flat fee (the additional charge to our hourly rate), we need to first calculate hourly cost for three hours:
time x cost = 3 hours x $10 per hour = $30 total
Since it tells us that 3 hours costs $45, we can then do:
$45 - $30 = $15 to know that we need to add a $15 fee to whatever we calculate for our hourly rate
Using this logic for 8 hours:
time x cost = 8 hours x $10 per hour = $80 dollars
Add the $15 fee (that we calculated in step 1):
$80 + $15 = $105
Answer: $95 total for 8 hours
