The next term would be 7/12 because it's going by 2 or 1/6. For example if you add 1/12 plus 2 it would give you 3/12 than add 2 again to 3/12, you'll get 5/12.
Another way to do it....
3/12 - 1/12 = 1/6
D= 1/6
a1(First term) = 1/12
a(n)= Terms or first, second, third, etc. or 1, 2, 3...
Formula= n -1/6
1/12+ 2-1/6 = 3/12
looking for the 4th term
a(4)
1/12+ 4 -1/6 = 7/12
Answer = 7/12
