Math in plain English
(x + 4) - 3x = 1+ x get rid of your parenthesis and combine your like terms
4 - 2x = 1 + x subtract x from both sides
4 - 3x = 1 subtract 4 from both sides
-3x = -3 divide by -3
x = 1
7(6 - 2x) = 5(-3x + 1) get rid of your parenthesis
42 - 14x = - 15x + 5 add 15x to both sides
42 + x = 5 subtract 42 from both sides
x = - 37
2x + 3 = 0.5(6 + 4x) get rid of parenthesis
2x + 3 = 3 + 2x no matter what x is equal to, this equation will ALWAYS be true
infinite solutions
-6x + 3 = -3(2x - 1) get rid of parenthesis
-6x + 3 = -6x + 3 again, both sides of your equation are exactly the same so there are infinite solutions.
