First, convert pounds (lbs) to kilograms (kg) for each of the family members and add the weights up OR add the weights of the family members together in pounds then convert the total weight from pounds to kilograms.
Then, take the total weight of the family ( in kilograms) and add that value to 1,092 kilograms (the total weight of the current passengers in the elevator)
Lastly, find out how many kilograms 1.5 tons are and compare to see if the total weight of the family + the total weight of the current passengers is greater than or less than 1.5 tons ( aka 1,360.78 kilograms)
If the total weight is greater than 1.5 tons then the family cannot get on the elevator.
If the total weight is less than 1.5 tons then the family can get on the elevator.
203 + 114 + 135 + 75 + 83 = 610 pounds (lbs)
610 pounds = 276.69 kilograms
Family total + Current total
276.69 + 1092 = 1368.69 kilograms
1.5 tons = approx. 1360.78 kilograms
1368.69 is GREATER THAN 1360.78
Therefore, the family CANNOT get on the elevator
