Compound or Complex sentence.

I just need to know if the following sentence counts as a Compound or Complex sentence.


"She wasn’t afraid, because she knew she was tougher."

I feel that it might be a Compound sentence with 'because' acting as a subordinating conjunction. Though because "because she knew she was tougher" is after a comma, I feel like it may be a complex sentence since "because she knew she was tougher" isn't a complete thought.
