Lavoisier is called "The Father of Modern Chemistry." He established precision in measurements, created and used many new and more precise tools, had a female "lab assistant" (his wife), confirmed that oxygen is needed for things to burn, and discovered the Law of Conservation of Mass/Matter. The discovery of the law would imply that you can choose answer "c." The law states that matter cannot be created or destroyed in a chemical reaction; it can only change forms.
Answer "a"...destroying matter, is not valid according to the Law of Conservation of Mass/Matter.
Answer "b"...Newton is known for his work with gravity.
Answer "d"...It would be correct if it said "oxygen."
