How many prisoners were freed from the Bastille?

During the French Revolution, on July 14, 1789, revolutionaries wanted to free the prisoners from the Bastille, a fortress built in the thirteenth century. Only seven prisoners were in residence when the revolutionaries entered the fortress. Four of the prisoners were forgers, one was in for a sexual misdemeanor, and two were mentally ill.
