Question

This week, pick one of the following prompts to discuss please be descriptive.

1. Why do we have an appendix? Find a research article (or more) that discuss the theories behind why we have an appendix. What does it do? Do we still need it? What happens when it becomes inflamed?

2. Is food medicine? How does what we eat affect our health? Can we change our diets to heal our bodies? Is a calorie a calorie or does the actual chemistry of the food matter? Should we pay better attention to what we are eating?

3. Pick a disease of the liver and discuss its cause, symptoms, treatment, and outcome.

4. White teeth is very popular and desired. Tell us about the anatomy of the tooth. What color SHOULD a tooth be? Explain the whitening process, what happens, does it last, and what does it do to the tooth. What are the best ways to keep our teeth healthy?

Did you have a specific question?

Or did you want a tutor to select which of these would be most instructive for you to research and answer?

If the latter, then answer the question about which you presently know least, because you will learn the most by learning about it.

If, on the other hand, you just ate something that was advertised as whitening your teeth when added to your dinner, and are now feeling left lower abdominal pain and tenderness with fever and jaundice, you are in an excellent position to pick any of the prompts and run with it, so to speak. (I do hope that isn't your situation!)
