The way this is worded, it seems you have two columns ("Words" and "Expression" with "blank" in each unknown... you need to put something in for each blank. Let's start at the top... your instructions are to choose a number, so pick any number. Let's try 2.
In the second line, there is a blank on the left side, so let's try and fill it in. What number would represent -2x, if your chosen number (2) is now "x"? In other words, for each of these blanks, substitute your number (2) in place of "x" and evaluate the expression (fancy words for "figure out the answer").
-2x = -2 * 2 = -4 for the second blank
-2x-1 = -2 * 2 -1 = -5 for the third blank (multiply first, then subtract)
-2x-1/5 = -2 * 2 = -4 1/5 for the fourth blank
This last one was a little ambiguous. We've solved it as written, but if it had parentheses on it like this:
(-2x-1)/5 it would be quite different, because you would multiply first, then subtract, and then divide by 5 last. In this case the answer for that would be -5/5 or -1.
The wording of this question was not very clear, but I think this is likely the answer.
