The y-intercept is the y-value at which the line crosses the y-axis. In this case the y-intercept is 3.

The slope is (the change in y) / (the change in x)

Notice that the graph goes through the points (0,3) and (2,5)

Lets call (0,3) point 1 and (2,5) point2.

1. m = (y₁ - y₂) / (x₁ - x₂)
2. m = (3 - 5) / (0 - 2)
3. m = (-2) / (-2) = 1

Slope-intercept form of a line is y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

y = 1x + 3, or simply y = x + 3
