To factor this you need 2 numbers which multiply to -30(a x c) and add to -1 (coefficient of x term). this would be -6 and +5 so will rewrite the middle term as -6x +5x. this gives us 10x^2 +5x. -6x -3 [will now factor by groups] 5x(2x+1). -3(2x+1)= (5x-3)(2x+1) If you are not familiar with the technique of factoring by grouping I suggest you read up on it. Sorry I did not get back to you quickly. But I agree with the answer above. (2x+1) (5x-3). If you FOIL it, it will give you what you started with 10x^2-x-3. Best of luck with your work!
