The product of a number and 7 increased by 3 means that:
A number we will call n is multiplied by 7 and then 3 more is added to it. Since multiplication is done before addition in the order of operations, you must multiply first.
So, 7 times n +3 in algebraic form looks like 7n + 3. So that is your expression 7n + 3.
However, if they mean (the product of a number) and (7 increased by 3), then it would be :
7 increased by 3 and then multiplied by a number we will call n. This is unclear in the statement.
n (7+3).
It is difficult to interpret want is meant by the statement, so I would just explain what we did here. Both could be correct.
