V = bh
Volume of a prism = area of base times height
62 cubic inches = 4 sq. inches(h)
You want to get h alone on one side of the =
Remember if you do the same thing on both sides of the equal sign things remain equal.
so divide by 4 sq. inches on both sides of the equal sign
Anything divided by itself = 1 so 4 sq. inches (h) / 4 sq. inches
1(h) = h
62 cubic inches / 4 sq. inches = 4 sq. inches (h) / 4 sq. inches
62 cubic inches / 4 sq. inches = (4 sq. inches) (h) / 4 sq. inches
62/4 = 15.5 and cubic inches /square inches = inches
so
15.5 inches = (h)
You no longer need the parentheses for multiplication
15.5 = h
The height is 15.5 inches
h = 15.5 inches
