So first, you know that each pack of scrunchies, x, costs $4, and each bag of chips, y, costs $3. So when you multply the cost per item times the number of items, then you are left with the unit of cash, which luckily for us has to add up to $36. So our equation looks like this:
4x+3y=36
To find the x intercept, we set y equal to 0. So x=9 in this case, and when find the y intercept we have to set x=0. When we do that y=12. So respectively, we are able to at max buy 9 packs of scrunchies and 12 bags of chips.
