If f(x) = 2x + 3
then f(x) = 7 when 2x + 3 = 7 => x = 2
If f(x) = 3x - 2
then f(x) = 7 when 3x - 2 = 7 => x = 3
So to work out x, we need to know f(x). What is your function f(x)?
