In the 2006 Winter Olympics, Sweden won 3 medals more than China. Germany secured one more than twice the number of medals bagged by sweden. If 54 medals were won in all, how many medals did Germany secure?

G=2S+1 Germany won twice as many as Sweden

S+C+G = 54

substitute

into

S+C+G = 54

S + (S-3) + (2S+1) = 54

4S = 54+3 -1= 56

S = 56/4 = 14 medals for Sweden

G=2S+1 = 2(14)+1 = 28+1 = 29 medals for Germany

11 for China, 3 less than Sweden

14+11 + 29 = 54 total medals
