What's the inequality? Solve and graph it

A local department store advertised that it's clearance items had prices that were at least $3 and no more than $8.

Answer 1

Clearance items P (price) "at least" 3 and P "no more than" 8

Hence inequality is 3 <= P <= 8

The best graph for an inequality like this is a "number line".

Label the line P for Price ($)... and add some numbers from 0 to 10, say...

a small circle around 3 to show end point, and circle around 8 to show end point... both circles filled in to show that we include the 3 and the 8. And draw a line joining them.

If X is the price then

3 ≤ X ≤ 8

The line is shaded in from 3 to 8 and then a filled in circle should be where the 3 and 8 are letting you know it could be equal to 3 or 8 and anything in-between the two.
