start with slope-intercept form of the equation: y = mx + b, where m = slope and b = y -intercept
from the graph, the y-intercept (b) = 3.
from the point if you go down 1 unit and over to the right one unit you will be on the line again. That is a change in y of -1 and a change in x of + 1. slope (m) = change in y/change in x = -1/1 = -1.
so slope-intercept form of equation is y = -x + 3
standard form is ax + by = c
so need to transform y = -x + 3 to that form
y + x = -x + x + 3
x + y = 3
