Inverting questions

The unit needs strips of adhesive tape that are 4/1/2 inches long.

How many strips can be obtained of wins to losses, my questons is why am I inverting the 4/1/2 inches long instead of 200-inch roll, I thought I shold invert the 200-inch roll

Are you trying to figure out how many 4 1/2 inch strips you can get from a 200-inch roll?

 

So it's 200 divided by 4 1/2.

 

If you want to invert something, think of 4 1/2 as 9/2, then invert it to 2/9.

 

Then instead of dividing, multiply 200 x 2/9, which gives you 400/9.

 

That simplifies to 44.444...

So you could get 44 strips, with a little less than half a strip's worth leftover.
