Hey! so let’s start breaking this problem down, this question is asking for the difference. Difference can be used to basically ask how much space is between the two numbers provided.
In order to make this less complicated, in this problem you do not have to worry about the negative sign that is found in front of both numbers. If it makes it easier for your head to rack around the problem you can reverse it and just turn the -5 and -1 to positive number so the problem would be what’s the difference between 1 and 5 which would equal 4 and since the answer needs to be in degrees that is the unit that is being used to measure in this problem. Your final answer will be a difference of 4 degrees.
Though here is another example you can use:
-5 [] -4 [] -3 [] -2 [] -1
Each box shows the distance between that of the lowest temp of -5 degrees to the highest temp of -1 degrees.
