A trinomial is an equation with three terms. To solve this problem, we want to use the FOIL method (first, outside, inside, last). We begin by multiplying the first terms in each binomial (binomials have 2 terms). We then multiply the outer terms of each binomial, followed by the inner terms, and finally the last terms. We then add them all together.
In general this looks like:
(a+b)(c+d)
ac+ad+bc+bd
Applying this concept to your question, we get:
(x+1)(2x+2)
(x*2x)+(x*2)+(1*2x)+(1*2)
2x2+2x+2x+2
Combining like terms give us the trinomial:
2x2+4x+2
(The "*" indicates multiplication)
