supplies from the tavern, Jane had three times

as much as John.

he gives her 35 and she has 35 more,

then he has 3 times hers

x-35 = 3(y+35)

x-35 = 3y +105

5y-35 = 3y+105

2y = 140

y = 140/2 = 70 = Jane's coins

x=5y = 5(70) = 350 = John's coins

350-35= 315

70+35 = 105

315= 3(105)
