The subject in this sentence is "it" or "to call after midnight" indifferently--> It is alright (this thing is alright) or (to call after midnight is alright). It is used to emphasize the thing that is alright or not as a repetition of the subject (this action, this thing... --> to call after midnight).
Since the verb of the main clause in this sentence is the verb to be (it IS alright), the sentence does not have a direct not an indirect object. That happens because the verb to be is not an action verb, it is a linking verb. Linking verbs work as equal signs, meaning that what is at one side of the verb is defined by what is at the other side.
