The length is 15

For a Rectangle

Perimeter = 2(length) + 2(width) = 52

length = w + 4

Let Perimeter = P

Let length = l = w + 4

Let width = w

P = 2l + 2w

Substitute l in terms of w and set that equal to P, 52

52 = 2(w + 4) + 2w

Divide both sides of the equation by 2

26 = w + 4 + w

26 = 2w + 4

Subtract 4 from both sides of the equation

22 = 2w

Divide both side of the equation by 2

11 = w

15 = w + 4 = l

Check the values in the equation for the Perimeter, P

P = 2l + 2w

52 = 2(15) + 2(11)

52 = 30 + 22

52 = 52
