## 1 Expert Answer

Steps for long division: DMSB

"dirty men smell bad"

"divide multiply subtract bringdown"

. 95

______________________

20 | 19.000

180

____________

100

use graph paper to keep the columns straight...

the whole number of the quotient is zero followed by the decimal point

190 divided by 20 is 9, the first quotient

20 times 9 is 180 is the first partial product

190 - 180 is 10 is the first remainder, which is LESS than 20

Brings down the zero

100 divided by 20 is 5, the second quotient

20 times 5 is 100 is the second partial product

200 - 200 is ZERO, the second (and last) remainder

19/20 = 0.95

Another way to do it is 19/20 = ?/100

cross multiplies: 19*100 = 20*?

1900 = 20*?

1900/20 = ?

95 = ?

so 19/20 = 95/100 = 0.95 = 95%
