use graph paper to keep the columns straight...
the whole number of the quotient is zero followed by the decimal point
190 divided by 20 is 9, the first quotient
20 times 9 is 180 is the first partial product
190 - 180 is 10 is the first remainder, which is LESS than 20
Brings down the zero
100 divided by 20 is 5, the second quotient
20 times 5 is 100 is the second partial product
200 - 200 is ZERO, the second (and last) remainder
19/20 = 0.95
Another way to do it is 19/20 = ?/100
cross multiplies: 19*100 = 20*?
1900 = 20*?
1900/20 = ?
95 = ?
so 19/20 = 95/100 = 0.95 = 95%
