Hi Logan,
Commission is an extra amount of money earned in addition to the hourly amount that a person earns for a particular job. In this problem , the commission has been calculated for you and is $50.
That means that of the $152 Isabella earned, $50 was due to commission. The rest is from her hourly pay.
The amount of pay from her hourly portion would be the total minus the commission:
$152 - 50 = $102
In order for her to earn $102 at $8.50, she would need to work 12 hours:
$102 ÷ $8.50 = 12 hours
