David has the correct answer. I summarized the steps in a chart and look more closely at the units involved:
Use the units to help set up the calculations. I arrived at the number of batches in line 5 by dividing the target amount of $1,000 by the $12/batch in line 4. Keeping the units:
$1,000/(12 $/batch) = 83.333 batches. As David correctly states, round up, unless you can make 0.333 batch easily. This calculation is the same as David's equation, but looking at the units you can also see why it works. The dollar signs cancel and batches moves to the top, leaving just batches.
