An instructor wants to create a banner for their classroom. For no particular reason, the perimeter of the banner needs to be 44 feet, and thr the length must be 2 feet less than 3 times the width.

so from the above condition we can write, length l = 3w- 2

we know the formula of perimeter is = 2* ( l + W )

as per condition , and substituting the values of l and w

2*( 3w-2+ W ) = 44

2* ( 4w -2 ) = 44

dividing both sides by 2 ,

4w - 2 = 22

adding 2 on both sides,

4w = 22 + 2 = 24

dividing both sides by 4,

w = 24/4 = 6 so , width is 6 ft , substituting the value of w we get l= 3* 6 - 2 = 16 ft , length is 16 feet

2w + 6w - 4 = 44

8w - 4 = 44
