Please help. Im so bad at this!

Question

I have to find an equation perpendicular to 5y=x-4, passing through (2,1), using the point-slope formula. Then I have to write my answer in slope-intercept form. And it's like looking at a completely foreign language.

The equation I got is y = -5x + 11, but please check my process.

The given equation is 5y=x-4 and we will convert it into y=mx+c form

i.e y=(x-4)/5

y= (1/5)x-(4/5) and this is in the form of y=mx+c

m=(1/5) (slope) c= (-4/5).

The line perpendicular to this would be having slope of (-1/m) therefore the slope of new line is (-5) and the constant would be same.

The new equation would be like

y-y₁=m(x-x₁)

as it is passing through (2,1) =(x₁,y₁)

y-1=(-5)(x-2)

y-1= -5x+10

5x+y=11

5x+y=11 and you can see that it passes through (2,1) as well
