asked 09/06/20A rectangular athletic field is twice as long as it is wide. If the perimeter of the athletic field is yards, what are its dimensions?
i need to find the second part of the question:Remember that
2x
represents the length of the athletic field. Therefore, the length of the athletic field is
nothing
yards.

6x. The length of the field is 2x, which we can call 2w (w for width since length is double width. Perimeter=2*length+2*width.
Now substitute length in terms of width, which we previously established was 2w.
Now you are left with the equation P=2(2w)+2(w).
Simply to 4w+2w or 6w
Hello, Nukhba,
Length(L) is 2X the Width(W), so L = 2W
A rectangle has 2 W sides and 2 L sides, so the total perimeter is: Total = 2W + 2L
Substitute: Total = 2W + 2*(2W)
= 2W + 4W
Therefore Perimeter(P): P = 6W
I'm sure what you mean by "the length of the athletic field is nothing." No value is given, if that is what you mean. Therefore, the best we can say is that IF the measurements are given to us in units of yards, then the final answer will also be yards.
P = 6W yards.
