Length of rectangle

The length of a rectangle is six times its width.

If the area of the rectangle is 294  cm2. What is the perimeter?

Let "w" be the width of a rectangle. Then the length would be 6w ("the length of a rectangle is six times its width").

Area is length times width so (6w)(w) = 296

6w² = 294

w² = 294/6 = 49

w = √49 = 7

So the width is 7, that means the length is 7•6 = 42. The perimeter is the 2•7 + 2•42 = 98
