Kyphosis Clarification

Hello,

Can you provide clarification or anatomy related to Kyphosis? If on the position of the lower cervical spine, is it flexing? Also, for the upper cervical spine would it be in a round positon?

Kyphosis refers to 1 of 3 disorders that affect the natural spinal curvature. The condition is characterized by excessive/exaggerated rounding of the upper back and thoracic spine--within the sagittal plane--and therefore slouched/hunchback appearance.

This exaggerated curvature is more of a static/chronic posturing of the spinal column rather than a voluntary/acute action or change in joint position such as flexion/extension. Spinal curvature disorders or conditions can be congenital, and/or develop over time.
